Crystal County School is registered as THE COUNTY PREPARATORY SCHOOLS LIMITED for children from all ethnic group, race, gender and religious belief.
- Class sizes are thus:
6 babies in all Baby world units for babies
- 3 months’ to 15 months.
- 10 children in all Play Group classroom (15months to 2 years +).
- 10 children in all Early Years Foundation (1 -4) classrooms (2 years+ to 5 years +).
10 children in all Primary Classes ( 5years+ to 10years).
Other matters taken into account in deciding which child can be offered a place in Any of the classes are: –
! Availability of spaces, taking into account the staff/child ratios, the age of the child and the registration requirements – ! When the application is received (Preference is given to those who have been on the waiting list the longest or have siblings already at CCS).
We operate an inclusion and equality policy and ensure that children are welcome to any of our classes namely-Baby world, Play Group, Early Years foundation and Primary sections irrespective of gender, race, religion, color or creed.
PLEASE NOTE THAT FOR ADMISSIONS INTO ANY CLASS, WE HAVE A TERMLY INTAKE, BEGINNING THE TERM FOLLOWING YOUR CHILD’S SECOND BIRTHDAY.
Before the school tour, the application form must be bought, filled and returned to the school if the parent has decided to enroll his/her child/children at Crystal County School.
The parents of the child will at a later date be called in for an interview which enables the school listen to and
difficulty or challenge they are advised to see the Director.
School fees as well as fees for optional or monthly services are not prorated but paid for Termly.
SCHOOL ACADEMIC YEAR
In the Baby World, the year runs from January to December and consists of 3 quarters
- First Quarter January to April
- Second Quarter May to August
- Third Quarter September to December
In the Play Group, Early Years Foundation and Primary Classes, the school academic year consists of 3 terms
- Christmas term—— September to December
- Easter term ———- January to March
- Summer term ——– April to July.
It is expected that children will attend school every day except when illness requires them to stay at home. The school requires parents whose children are ill to CALL the front desk and relay the information. The school will call the parent to ask about the welfare of ill children before understand the expectations of the parents for both the school and their child/children. If this interview ends successfully, the parents are then required to pay a registration fee. The registration packet includes the following information:

ALL COMPLETED FORMS MUST BE RETURNED WITH EVIDENCE OF COMPLETE PAYMENT OF PRESENT TERM SCHOOL FEES BEFORE SPACE IS GIVEN TO THE CHILD.
Fees to be paid will be communicated to the parents at their first visit/ inquiry stage. Crystal County School maintains a no cash policy. We accept bank drafts, cheques and have bank tellers which are to be used for payments at the front desk.
Fees are due no later than drop-off time the first day of school. Fees may also be paid in advance. Any child whose fees are not paid on time will not be allowed in the school after a certain grace period. If any parent has a the end of the day. If child will be absent from school for any other reason other than illness, parents must inform the school in writing to the administrative office and copy the class educator. Failure to do that, lesson learnt in Child’s absence will not be revisited. It is not advised that children miss classes during the term as they miss out on valuable learning.
We believe in year round schooling and are sensitive to those families who go for vacation abroad during the summer. The school year has been broken down into three regular terms and a summer long vacation term, during which an optional five weeks summer experience classes preparing children for their next classes and a one week camp to further foster independency and creativity is held . We will usually have one week mid term break termly, two weeks break at Christmas and Easter. In the summer, we will have two weeks break on either side of the summer term, and all Federal public holidays are observed.
CLOTHING / ATTIRE
All pupils (Play Group, Early Years (1-4) and Primary) are to be on school uniforms Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays with Black soft sole shoes and school branded socks. Sport wears with white Trainers on Wednesdays
and muftis in the color for the week on Fridays. We expect all parents to keep all items of uniform clean and well ironed.
ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES
School opens by 7am Monday Friday and we start receiving pupils from 7:10am till 7:50am. Morning assembly starts by 7:50am, Circle time 8:15am and Classes by 8:30am. Lateness can cause your child to miss out on a valuable lesson.
It is normal for some children to have difficulty separating from parents, or cry when dropped off. Please make your drop offs brief. The more you prolong the departure, the harder it gets. A smile, cheerful good-bye Kiss, and a reassuring word that you will be back is all that is needed. In our experience, children are always quick to get involved in play or activities as soon as parents’ are gone and don’t forget that they are in safe hands.
PARENTS’ ARE ADVISED TO PLEASE ENSURE THAT THEY DO NOT DOUBLE PARK DURING PICK UP AND DROP OFF TO AVOID CONGESTION AND TO ENSURE THE SCHOOL MAINTAINS A CORDIAL RELATIONSHIP WITH HER NEIGHBORS.
Please be brief at pick up times. This is a time of testing, when two different authority figures are present (the parent and the educator). All children will test to see if the rules still apply. During arrival and departure, we expect parents to back up our rules, but if not, we will remind the child that their behavior is inappropriate and take action to correct, if needed. Please be in control of your child during pick-up time. Curriculum spread sheet: every term, each parent receives a curriculum overview which highlights all the topics the children will cover during the term and a calendar of activities for the term. This will be sent home/mailed during the first few weeks of resumption each term.
The interactive e-mail service, twitter, face book , BB group chat and What’s app group chat are also available for better communication between parents and educators. Each class has an email address.
Sensitive issues will be discussed in private outside of regular classroom hours. If you have a question regarding your child, please ask his /her educator/ instructor in writing as phone calls are not allowed to avoid distractions. The educators are the first resource for questions on difficulties or clarification. If the educator is unable to resolve the issue, please address your questions to the administrator, proprietor or the director. It would be appreciated if parents make an appointment in advance, in order to keep things running smoothly.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SCHOOL HAS ZERO TOLERANCE FOR VERBAL OR PHYSICAL ALTERCATIONS BETWEEN PARENTS AND EDUCATORS. ALL PARENTS MUST RESPECT ALL MEMBERS OF STAFF OF CRYSTAL COUNTY SCHOOL AT ALL TIMES. PARENTS OR STAFF WHO DO NOT ABIDE BY THIS RULE WILL BE PRESENTED BEFORE THE SCHOOL’S PTA COMMITTEE.
Parents should please work closely with their children at home and send their home work back to school on due date.
NAPS / QUIET TIME
There will be a designated nap/rest time each day. Rest time gives everyone a much needed break during the day. Without rest time, some children are argumentative in the afternoon, short- tempered with other children and not really happy when they go home in the evening.
